AGENDA ITEM: West African Ebola Virus Epidemic 2014

Ebola virus, discovered in 1976, is a very dangerous situation for many patients and can lead to death, if not treated. Although Ebola has been discovered decades ago, it caused an epidemic in the western region of Africa, resulting in the death of more than 10,000 people.

In this committee, delegates will be discussing the ways to combat and prevent the spread of the virus as if they are in 2014, facing Ebola epidemic for the first time. Creating an immediate global response is not only important for saving thousands of lives, but also essential for the improvement of the medical researches upon viruses and the creation of new vaccines. West Africa occupy a significant position in the agenda. The cost of the transportation of the necessary health equipments and staff should also be considered in the debate.
