AGENDA ITEM: Implementing Free Trade Policies in Developing Countries

The United Nations Economic and Financial Committee, also known as the Second Committee, addresses global economic issues, including sustainable development and international finance cooperation for improved economic stability and prosperity as a whole. Under the agenda item "Implementing Free Trade Policies in Developing Countries," the Committee will seek ways to support developing nations in adopting free trade policies that contribute to economic growth, poverty eradication, and sustainable development. The committee is to analyze the benefits and challenges of free trade, especially for countries with emerging economies, in order to identify ways by which these countries could better integrate into the world market. The main discussions will fall on the development of trade infrastructure, reduction of trade barriers, improvement of policy regimes, and compatibility of free trade with social and environmental goals. The session will work out the solutions collaboratively that will enable developing countries to achieve the full potential of free trade by closing risks and making sure it is economically inclusive.
